I started getting up at 6AM every morning for the past 2 weeks, and I’m loving it.
I’m sure everyone feels from time to time that there just are not enough hours in a day to get what you want done. This had been bothering me for a while.
I’ve already made efforts to reduce distractions throughout the day. One big change was avoiding all short form content and staying off social media.
That alone helped tremendously with my focus levels and the amount of distraction I encountered through the day, but it wasn’t enough.
It was about this time YouTube must have been reading my mind and suggested one of Ryan Holiday’s Daily Stoic videos. Of course the topic was about focus.
The tip that I took from this video was waking up earlier.
I’m going to steal this quote from the video:
“We are better people if we anticipate the day and welcome the dawn” – Seneca
I’ve been getting up early for going on 2 weeks now, and I can most assuredly say it is the most peaceful time of the day. In fact, I’d say it is my most favorite time of day.
My brain just seems to have more clarity in the early morning. I get a lot of my work done, meaning that no matter what happens during the rest of the day, I’m good.
Some mornings it has been hard to get up, but every time I have its been worth it. I’d like to keep this up from now on if possible.
